MSC Melissa
A large maintenance job on board an MSC container vessel. A total of six days work for two of our service engineers. Preventative maintenance combined with overhaul of a filter that had already been disconnected for some time because of problems.
Preventative maintenance was carried out on the Boll & Kirch lubricant type 6.61.07DN350 filter, and two Boll & Kirch type 6.61DN100 filters that were fitted to the main and auxiliary engines. Overhaul of the purifier’s filter was required. This 6.61DN150 had been disconnected for some time and from the photos below you can see why. All moving parts were stuck and extremely contaminated. The Boll & Kirch filter had thus been doing its work well. We re-fitted the new Boll & Kirch filter cartridges and were able to transfer the fully-operating filter to the Chief Engineer on board.
